PROJECT
MOODY TUD
We’re passionate about old homes and the unique character they hold. This 1927 Tudor home, located in the Park Hill neighborhood of Denver, was in desperate need of a main floor renovation. The 1990s updates simply weren’t doing it justice. We took inspiration from the home’s original architecture, embracing the "Art Deco" style of its era while introducing a timeless yet modern approach to the design.
One of the key transformations was opening up the wall between the dining room and kitchen, recreating the original arches that graced the front of the house. But we didn’t stop there—each arch was framed with custom steam-molded wood, reflecting the original millwork throughout the home. Our clients wanted a moody, atmospheric vibe, so we incorporated rich tones of green throughout, from custom cabinet colors to deep green-black paint on the ceiling and walls. We also included custom-made green tiles in the alcove for an added layer of texture.
To flood the space with light, we removed the back wall leading to the mudroom and replaced it with an interior window wall. This renovation gave the kitchen an Old English Tudor feel, as if it had always been part of the home. The unexpected use of white subway tiles on the back walls helped make the moody green tones truly come alive, creating a balanced and cohesive design.
