PROJECT
COLOR ME MID MOD
As a Wheat Ridge, Colorado native, Macy embraces every opportunity to work in her old stomping grounds. One of the standout architectural styles you'll find in Wheat Ridge neighborhoods is Mid-Century Modern—beautiful gems that were actually built during that era. For this project, our clients were ready for a much-needed kitchen renovation, but with a twist: they love color!
We wanted to honor the unique charm of mid-century homes while bringing in a "wood on wood" approach, using wood cabinets, wood cabinet hardware, wood beams, hardwood floors, and more. But we didn’t shy away from color—incorporating it in unexpected ways through scalloped tiles, brass transition strips, brass trim on the range hood, and brass legs for the peninsula and island. This made the cabinetry feel more like bespoke pieces of furniture rather than bulky fixtures.
Our ultimate goal was to open up the space by removing walls, giving the kitchen a modern refresh while maintaining the vintage charm we’re known for in our designs. We also wanted to infuse the colorful, quirky finishes that reflect our clients’ personalities and style.
